Our Inspiration

After much research trying to find a program about birds that integrated the second grade science curriculum, we decided to write our own show.  We couldn’t believe there wasn’t a musical about birds – after all – they sing!!!

In brainstorming about the program, we decided that:

  • The story should have a message
  • Factual information should be included in the dialogue and it should rhyme
  • The songs should be fun and each should have its own style (flavor)

We wrote the show over the summer and to our delight, the show was a huge hit.  Parents, teachers, friends and family encouraged us to publish Birds of a Feather, so here it is!

We would like to thank our principal for the opportunity to produce a “home-grown” musical, the second grade team for their enthusiasm about the program, the parents for their energy and efforts in making costumes, and our families for their input and support.
